Extremely fine measurements of motion in orbiting supermassive black holes

Approximately 750 million light years from Earth lies a gigantic, bulging galaxy with two supermassive black holes at its center. These are among the largest black holes ever found, with a combined mass 15 billion times that of the sun. New research from Stanford University, published June 27 in Astrophysical Journal, has used long-term observation to show that one of the black holes seems to be orbiting around the other.

Strange 'sea pickles' keep washing ashore along the Pacific Coast

There are strange sea creatures known as sea pickles invading the Pacific Northwest. These gelatinous and somewhat translucent organisms, called pyrosomes, have been seen congregating, sometimes by the thousands, close to shore from Northern California up to southeast Alaska clogging fishing nets and washing up on beaches, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Experts say that this year, the critters are appearing in very high numbers outside the normal range of the species.

Apple's AR Kit shows promising capabilities in the hands of developers

Apple introduced its Augmented Reality Kit (ARKit) at WWDC 2017, and developers are demonstrating the capabilities of the platform. The kit allows developers to create applications that draw 2D and 3D shapes over real world environments. The AR Kit analyses the scene, combines that with data from the motion tracking sensors on the device, to allow developers to create AR experiences. These are some early projects from developers using the ARKit.

Serena Williams: John McEnroe believes she would struggle on men's circuit

Serena Williams would struggle to be in the world's top 700 if she was on the men's circuit, according to seven-time Grand Slam champion John McEnroe. And the male player, ranked 701 in the world, believes he could beat her too. Speaking to US radio station NPR, McEnroe said of world number one Williams, who has won an Open-era record 23 Grand Slams: "If she played the men's circuit she'd be, like, 700 in the world."

Ubisoft still thinks game-connected toys should be a thing

Starlink: Battle for Atlas was revealed by Ubisoft at its E3 press conference in Los Angeles today and it looks like a combination of Skylanders and No Man's Sky. Yikes. Starlink, coming in fall 2018 to the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, utilizes weird spaceship toys that connect to the systems' controllers. They are massive abominations and way too late to the games-to-life party.

E3 2017: UBISOFT 'NOT FORGETTING SPLINTER CELL,' SAYS CEO

Its Thursday night, and as I gear myself up for yet another round of night shifts a message flashes across my phone screen its a group of colleagues on WhatsApp. Theyre discussing an anonymised foetal cardiac tracing, recorded during the course of a birth, and sharing thoughts on the interpretation and appropriate management. Im amazed and grateful for these kinds of learning opportunities and theyre a testament to just how far technology has developed over the last 10 years. The ability to share and discuss a patients clinical case helps doctors to seek advice at crucial moments. The opportunities for learning are endless.

Adobe Scan App With Text Recognition Launched for Android and iOS

Adobe on Wednesday launched its document scanning app called Adobe Scan. If you are wondering why you should opt for Adobe's app over the existing scanning apps available on Google Play store or Apple's App Store, the new scanning app comes with Adobe Document Cloud integration. While the app is free to download and use, users will need an Adobe ID to get access to its features. It's available for Android and iOS.

Maruti Suzuki's Domestic Sales Grows By 15.5 Per Cent

Maruti Suzuki has had another month of decent growth after its overall domestic sales for the month of May 2017 grew by 15.5 per cent. The company's maximum volumes came from the Utility Vehicle segment where the sales of the Gypsy, Ertiga, S-Cross and the Vitara Brezza saw a growth of 66.3 per cent over May 2016. The company sold a total of 22,608 utility vehicles as compared to 13,596 units in May 2016. The 'Mini cars' segment which includes the Alto and the WagonR, showed a growth in sales for May 2017 by 18.1 per cent wherein they sold 39,089 units as compared to 33,105 units in May 2016
